# Switching Sites to Jekyll => .. Up a Level I'm now mostly converted over to static websites using Jekyll[1] and MfGames Jekyll Website[2]. There are advantages and drawbacks of this approach, but for right now, I'm pretty happy with the advantages. => http://jekyllrb.com/ 1: http://jekyllrb.com/ => https://github.com/dmoonfire/mfgames-jeykll-website 2: https://github.com/dmoonfire/mfgames-jeykll-website * Static pages: Lately, my ISP's rendering of WordPress has gotten pretty slow. Static pages are about as fast as I can make it. * No logins: Since everything is generated on my local machines, there isn't a chance of breaking into the system since there is no logins. * Unique appearance: Well… mostly. I'm not using a built-in theme, just something I threw together with Bootstrap and a few other plugins. * Controlled via Git: I love source control, not much else to say. While I know that the chances of someone breaking into my WordPress sites was pretty low, even with automated tools, those emails were the last thing I needed to push me into doing this. It also gave me a chance to create something “different” and also tie into some other processes. In the process, I changed * The Moonfires[3]: The portal site for my family. => http://moonfire.us/ 3: http://moonfire.us/ * D. Moonfire[4]: My blog and writing site. => http://d.moonfire.us/ 4: http://d.moonfire.us/ * Moonfire Games[5]: My programming and games site. => http://mfgames.com/ 5: http://mfgames.com/ Technically, I changed a few others, but I have no traffic with those, so they don't really count. It isn't perfect. I still see things I need to do, but at the moment, it works well enough that I should move into the next project. So, here's for a new site that I will hopefully enjoy for years. # Metadata Categories: => /categories/programming/ Programming Tags: => /tags/jekyll/ Jekyll # Footer Below are various useful links within this site and to related sites (not all have been converted over to Gemini). => /now/ Now => /contact/ Contact => /bio/ Biography => /bibliography/ Bibliography => /support/ Support => /fiction/ Fiction => //fedran.com/ Fedran => https://mfgames.com/ Coding => https://moonfire.us/ The Moonfires => /categories/ Categories => /tags/ Tags => /privacy/ Privacy => /colophon/ Colophon => /license/ License => https://lists.typewriter.press/subscription?f=RDQ6f3AFHXnX2o763d5TgUmaYP7N763gR6FjZyGUUFWhyRkpgZF9I35ySICDBEdFFtgG Mailing List => https://d.moonfire.us/blog/2014/06/06/switching-sites/
