The last few albums have felt like a chore. Today's album isn't a chore - it's fun - but essential listening? Probably not. 

The Sonics are the archetypal band for Boss Radio 66/WFMU Ichiban¹. It's straightforward, simple rock from the 60s. There's a mix of covers. No one component jumps out, but it all comes together so well that it doesn't matter. Way too many 'WAAOOOOOHs' and the harsh edge on the singer's voice make this feel slightly more aggressive than many similar records. Not actually aggressive, just a little bit angrier. 

Have Love Will Travel is the stand out song. A catchy riff, basic lyrics.. and that's about it. It's 2 minutes 40, so it doesn't outstay it's welcome. The sax does. And it rolls in to Psycho so perfectly that they feel like the same song.

Must listen? No. A significant tick up from the last few days? Absolutely.
