# Album #178: m b v By My Bloody Valentine (2013) => https://1001albumsgenerator.com/albums/2SlSnUYW5bgtdWXVymv18a/mbv m b v on 1001albumsgenerator I assume 'Loveless', the previous MBV album, will be on the list. It came out 20 years before this one. 'm b v' is OK, and I can only think that the praise for it is gasps of relief at the band managing to produce a reasonable follow-up so much later. Like if a new Neutral Milk Hotel album came out, and was passable. It would be great. I hope it happens. But it wouldn't automatically be a must hear. The main instrument in My Bloody Valentine is guitar effects. The songs are slow, long, and if any of the previous 3 things sound bad there's probably no point in trying. I like all of those things, and even still I went to get a cup of coffee - forgetting I was supposed to be listening to an album - came back, and it felt like I had never left it. This was tending towards a ⭐⭐, but track 6, 'new you' knocked it up to a ⭐⭐⭐. The slightly more upbeat tempo and restrained guitars broken up the saminess that was setting in. The meandering follow up 'in another way' knocked it back to a ⭐⭐. 'nothing is' sounds like a much more restrained Lightning Bolt. But in this thrilling play-by-play, can album closer 'wonder 2' claw back that last star? No. # Rating ⭐⭐ ______ => / 🏡 Home => ./ 📻 More albums => /about.gmi 🙋 About this project
