# Album #187: Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left By Nick Drake (1969) https://1001albumsgenerator.com/albums/5zau80zbjOc2uEO5P1olK1/five-leaves-left Five Leaves Left on 1001albumsgenerator I've read enough reviews and articles about Nick Drake to know the easy pitfalls of writing about him and his music. So many of the elements are great individually - his distinctive voice, the brilliant guitar playing being the stand out parts. I don't love the constant string section accompaniment, but without them so many of the songs would be way too sparse. I'd love to hear a more pared back 'When the day is done', for example, but it isn't ruined by the strings either. Scoring this is a struggle between a ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. I'm knocking off the last star because for some reason I never feel like putting on a Nick Drake album. I can't find any particular fault and loved listening through it again, but know from years of familiarity that I'm unlikely to reach for it again soon. Is it an album everyone my hear before they die? Unsure. It's definitely an album that people could do with giving a go. But that's a much worse book title. # Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ______ => / 🏡 Home => ./ 📻 More albums => /about.gmi 🙋 About this project
