Ah jeez. There's more? I gave The Specials ⭐⭐ just 40 albums ago. Despite the title feeling pretty ominous in that regard, I found this one less tedious. It's a little more consistent, like they've focused in on what makes them The Specials.

I still don't care for it, though. Just if I had to put one on, perhaps in some sort of dangerous situation where it's the only way to save everyone, I'd go for More Specials rather than The Specials. I'd go for either before Appetite for Destruction (⭐).

Interestingly the reviews & bio snippet from 1001albumsgenerator say totally the opposite. Users have given The Specials 3.33 on average, while this only gets 3.03. The bio says it introduces *more* variety, including some muzak influence. I guess most people prefer ska to muzak, while I prefer the ska to be as watered down as possible. Even if the water in this case is muzak?

Side two seems to where the mix is best - Holiday Fortnight is the highlight, while I Can't Stand It leans fully in to a cheesy aesthetic - lyrically, musically, without feeling too ironic or making too much of a joke of it all.
