Talk about research he's doing along with Nada Amin. This was one of the talks I was most excited about! But in the end it wasn't as exciting as that. :'(

It felt like a history lesson and I failed to get the point he was trying to make.

  • McCarthy, "Programs with Common Sense"

Describes how a program may improve by accepting advice from another program that may "understand" the problem at hand. Some of the wishful features are that a common-sensical program may improve through advice, and also improve the process of improvement.

  • Jon Doyle, "Reflexive Interpreters"
  • Gerald Jay Sussman, "A Computational Model of Skill Acquisition"
  • Marvin Minsky, "The Society of Mind"
  • "A Unified Approach to Solving 7 Programming Problems"
  • Barliman "smart" editor -- the thing he's worked on that has some program synthesis capabilities through miniKanren
  • Chris Hanson, Gerald Jay Sussman, "Software Design for Flexibility"

Alexey Radul, "Computational Murk" (someone posted on the chat) (https://alexey.radul.name)
