What an odd day. My old custom keyboard had been having issues and was getting worse. I've had the parts to rebuild it fresh with a new and better PCB and switches, but hadn't taken the time.
But then this morning my monitor started going haywire too--ghosting, vertical lines, and flickering. The keyboard, meanwhile, kept getting worse and keys were sticking.
Out of desperation I completd the keyboard build so I could at least type properly again (it's fantastic), and now my monitor has started working well again too. You know why?
That malfunctioning keyboard was plugged into a KVM switch, which was routing my video signals. So to my surprise, fixed keyboard = fixed monitor. ๐
