At the very beginning internet growth in popularity also because the anonymity.

Then Feisbuk was able to modify the perception about privacy and anonymity also thanks to a small group of people that surely helped to make them richest and therefore convincing people that coming outside the anonymity would provide a great success.

Exhibitionism, hedonism and voyarism well nourished by mercenary psychologists did the rest.
