I find my engagement with video content and text content is different. Video content "goes down" easier, but tends to not engage my thinking as deeply. Reading text *feels* more difficult, but I also feel like it forces me to consider every detail more thoroughly. I could easily spend all day consuming visual content, and I have in the past, but I find myself working to cut out that kind of content lately. I must be getting old. ๐

I think the difference is that text demands your attention in a way video doesn't. If you stop paying attention to what you are reading, you stop reading. It's very easy to sort of sit and daydream while watching a video without noticing it because the video keeps playing. ยท 2 years ago
