I want to make software for transmitting binary data over 3.5mm audio cables, but I'm not sure where to begin. Does anyone here have signal processing experience? .. or otherwise have ideas as to how I might interpret a high-sample-rate two-tone signal with potential noise?

Happy new year, geminauts! 2023 has been my first full year on Gemini, and I couldn't be happier with the community. To many more!

Happy xmas to all those who celebrate.\nNow for something completely unrelated - My C was never great and what I know has atrophied. What's the best way to reup my skills and get back to writing real software? I have a billion projects prototyped in Python but too slow or impractical to use in production

Screwed up my certs so I've been gone awhile. Good to be back on Station now. My framework laptop finally arrived!

Got sick and tired of tiny touchscreen keys and designed my own T9-ish revival (but without autocomplete). I have a working demo that I'm practicing on, but I can't decide whether I want to model it on a phone dial pad or a computer numberpad.

Hey Nex people - anyone know where I can find a formal spec? Looking specifically for a path length limit.

So what's this 'misfin' thing?

Hey all - any polish speakers here? I am trying to create a 3-letter code for each major city in the world, and I'm stuck on Łódź. should i use WCH (my best guess for phonetic) or LDZ (orthographic) or something else?

After 7 years of service, my iPhone 7's microphone has died, so I can no longer make phone calls without a headset. Anyone have any recommendations for a USA-compatible phone that would last as long (or longer) and is eOS-compatible?

June temperatures in October. Come on, weather, you were supposed to stop averaging 33 degrees 8 weeks ago

California is the United States of the United States. Young people travel there for work and a better standard of living, but it turns out to just be expensive and full of cars

Any USA-Americans here own a Fairphone 5? It's not officially for sale in the USA, but stories online seem to agree that it would be fine on Verizon. Can anyone attest?

It's really funny how plants in Astrobotany generate coins and gold somehow, but there's no attempt to explain or justify it. That's peak game enjoyability in my opinion

There's a slightly disconcerting flat edge on the far upper left solar panel in the Station ASCII art logo

I'm sure Nix is great, but I'm constantly put off of it by the weird cult community. Has it gotten any better (less Jehovah's Witness-y?) than it was a couple years back?

Big-tech-proofing my capsule. Anyone have handy a list of ASNs of known AI scrapers (Apple, M$, OpenAI, etc)?

My internet cable hangs between a terminal on the side of my house and a telephone pole on the opposite side of the road. My house is also about 50 meters from the road, meaning the line sags a whole lot. I knew this low-hanging line was bad news from day one. Today, the inevitable happened and a large truck snagged the cable and snapped it. 🙃

I clicked something without looking and now my astrobotany plant is a christmas tree. It is late June. How undo?

A week ish since I deleted Reddit (or rather Apollo). Only now realising how unhealthy it was for me. Anyone have any neat RSS feeds?

Feel shorted of my winter. Usually snow cover through March around here, but there hasn't been snow since late January. Broke 25c the other day. Weather rude and unreasonable.

Visited a public men's restroom. The urinal walls barely went to my sternum. Why would anyone think this is OK?

Snow will likely be gone tomorrow. It's been so quiet lately. Peaceful nights and fog really set the mood in a good sort of way, and I feel good.

Sort of glad we didn't get the user influx that Mastodon did. Gemini is that middle size with great community but very minimal trolling/misconduct. I don't know if I'm ready for a more mainstream gmi, or rather the effects it would bring

Handed my laptop to someone, they grabbed it by the screen ghbgbgbbgkfnb
Fortunately, that means I have an excuse to daily-drive my T61p for a bit until I replace the casing. Badass machine, still gets 4 hours battery after a decade and a half. Old ThinkPad is best ThinkPad

Was in a field today. Sprinted my ass off for the first time since god only knows when. Felt amazing; the cramps were very much worth it
