# Miscellaneous bodies corporate The main sorts of other bodies corporate are chartered corporations, such as the BBC or the RICS, and statutory corporations. These arise respectively from creation by a royal charter or an Act of Parliament. There are probably a couple of thousand chartered corporations and tens of thousands of statutory corporations, including basically every entity in local government all the way down to the trustees of a parish meeting. The parochial church council of each Church of England parish is also a corporate body for similar reasons. => https://www.jstor.org/stable/pdf/1326689.pdf Harold Laski on the Personality of Associations
