🍷 your local brewery
failproof cider / apple wine
you best read the two things i wrote before where i describe stuff in more detail.
alright, let's do this. your first hooch. we'll make it as simple as possible and within a few weeks you'll have it done. here's what you need:
ingredients
- a bottle of apple juice, get a transparent plastic bottle, 1l (1qrt)
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried baking yeast
method
- now, pour one glass of the juice out to enjoy later
- pour the sugar in the bottle, close the lid and shake violently until all sugar is disolved
- open and drop the yeast in
- shake a bit, so it doesn't stick to the top or sides
- put the lid on just so so the air can escape
- leave the bottle in dark and warm place
you may want to check on it in a few hours to see if it bubbles and if the co2 can safely escape. now you wait until it stops bubbling, that'll happen in a few weeks time.
few weeks later
did it stop bubbling? cool, it's ready, then. open it and pour a tiny bit out. just like a half-a-shot-worth. and taste it. two things could happen. either it tastes like alcohol or it tastes like vinegar. if it tastes like alcohol, you win, have a medal. congratulations. if it tastes like vinegar, the cap was too loose and air got in, or it was poorly sterilized and something got in, whatever the case, it's spoiled and ready to go down the drain. read the steps again, ask a question, if unsure, and try again.
