Step on the gas

Two months in and I'm doing a lot of YT and CL gear surfing. Gear acquisition surfing surely can be a precursor to gear acquisition syndrome. Looking at a lot of semi-modulars/sequencers like the Minibrute 2s and the Elektron A4.
I read a good comment that advocated waiting a year before buying a first hardware synth. There's so much to do in software, and so much hardware. However I can feel the pull for *some* kind of hardware. Playing with Koala, even something as limited as three fingers on a phone screen is miles beyond wiggling knobs with a mouse on the laptop.
For now in this beginner mode, I think gear surfing is OK, at last to learn about what's out there, but it helps to keep in mind the value in learning a foundational instrument (like a virtual modular such as Wren) really well.
