As alluded to some in my last phlog post, I had my own linux
podcast for 6 years. It was fun, and at times I miss it. It wasn't
all that time consuming really, but I felt a pressure to create. I
am not sure why, maybe it was the subscription model of rss feeds,
but I always felt bad when I didn't produce content on a regular
basis. I compensated for a lack of regular publishing in the later
years of the podcast by occasionally appearing on other podcast
where I didn't have to do any real work, just talk.

Yesterday I was trying to think of what I could put on my shiny new
gopher server, and I thought maybe I could mirror textfiles.com.
Looking into that I stumbled on the the artscene section of the
textfiles' site and re-discovered MOD files. I used to love
listening to MOD files! I spent several hours last night listening
to MODS, 669, MTM, XM, IT, and S3M files at textfiles' artscene
music site, as well as on the ModLand, and the Mod Archive sites. I
even went as far as to download all the MOD files from textfiles,
and gave serious thought to putting 55G of them on my gopher
server.  I even looked into maybe serving them with icecast. In the
end I decided not to do either right now. I am using most of my
bandwidth for my own selfish needs, and those files are already
mirrored and available as torrents.

Anyway, at the end of all that thinking, I found myself looking for
and finding my old audio recorder. What if I recorded stuff in car
on my commute again, but this time just sticking the audio on my
gopher server--no schedule, no subscriptions, no pressure, no
editing, no show notes? Even if no one ever listens, it might be
fun.
