|My friend is a doctor. During his residency or some shit he had to
|work at different doctor offices for experience. Orthopedist office
|for 6 weeks, endocrinologist office for 6 weeks, etc... He said the
|gyno office was the worst. Said the doctor basically has a couple of
|days of the month that are dedicated to "annual" checkups for women.
|The typical day consisted of just tumors and strange bleeding. Said
|one overweight woman was on the table and he watched as the doctor had
|to complete the entire exam with one hand because he had to hold the
|womans entire gut up with his other forearm just so he could get in
|there. :(

|When I was a kid, I wanted to be a vet. I volunteered at pet shelters
|and really enjoyed it. When I got to high school, I did a job shadow
|thing at a vet. That cured me of wanting to be a vet. You think it's
|great to "help animals" but the reality is most patients you see are
|sick, hurt, or dying and will probably be scared and aggressive. It
|takes a special kind of person to cope with the toll it takes. I
|thought I was handling it all right until the day a college girl came
|in with her new kitten she just bought. She stopped at the store to
|pick up the essentials and left the kitten in the car with her friend,
|but the kitten followed her without her knowing and when she closed
|the door she crushed its skull. There was nothing to do. It was
|already gone. She sat in the exam room and bawled for an hour
|straight. That was my last day.

|I always wondered if Gynos become immune to vaginas. They have seen
|too many to get aroused by it anymore. It’s like a Pornstar being
|immune by sex and they must do crazier and crazier stuff because the
|normal stuff doesn’t work anymore.
|u/mwai1 - 1 month
|
|It's more like switching your brain to an alternate mode. When
|you're at work, even as you're examining a vagina you have a list of
|diagnoses running in your head, and the examination findings that
|you need to be looking/feeling for, and your next plan and what
|you're gonna say to the patient. 5 minutes later as you're
|examining the next patient, you've totally forgotten how the
|previous vagina looked like, as you're focused on the current
|patient. Ain't nobody got time to get aroused! In the appropriate
|private, personal setting, with somebody you are emotionally
|attached to (or at least physically attracted to), with the woman
|responding to you and trying to arouse you too.. Is a totally
|different story. Never had one of those 'ew this looks like what I
|saw at work' moments.

|Well, my dad is a gynecologist and most of his friends/acquaintances

|u/Major_Magazine8597 - 1 month
|
|Good for them.
|u/Canvaverbalist - 1 month
|
|Maybe I'm the outlier here, and reading teenagers on the Internet
|definitely makes me feel like I am, but I don't find vaginas
|arousing *unless* I'm already aroused by the person itself. Sexual
|arousal creates a chemical cocktail in the brain that inhibits our
|sense of disgust, that's why the idea of someone putting their
|saliva in your mouth is pretty fucking disgusting to think about
|unless it's someone your brain decides it wants to reproduce with,
|that's why "post-nut clarity" is a thing because while you're
|aroused you're way more willing to engage in stuff your brain would
|find either physically disgusting (bodily fluids like saliva,
|secretions, sweat, piss, etc) or morally disgusting (cnc, public
|sex, ageplay, cheating, etc). So gynos don't have to "become"
|immune to vaginas, they probably already are.
|u/i_forgot_my_sn_again - 1 month
|
|It's just something in the brain. I can watch porn and I'll get
|aroused no problem,  seeing a naked woman in my bed, no issues,
|but I can go to a nude beach and obviously there's the gambit of
|ALL shapes and sizes but even the 20-30 year olds with nice
|bodies and no arousal. It's just the brain saying "ok, yes she's
|attractive and that's a pretty pussy but we aren't going to
|react"
|u/SwimmingScallion3252 - 1 month

|I imagine it's like the time I went in to get a boil on my back

|the amount of puss that was being released, I could hear the

|stimuli, only the random super obscure genitalia problems that are
|discovered.
|u/r3alCIA - 1 month
|
|Hate to break it to you but excitement doesn't equal arousal.
|Doctors will get excited when they're dealing with a weird,
|unusual condition or something gross. Sometimes they'll even call
|their other doctor buddies to come gather around and stare at you,
|oohing and aahing while you lie there helplessly contemplating
|your existence.

|Yes but that almost doesnt matter because if a hetero man (or even a
|gay woman) is in that profession, they will also serve women of
|precisely the type and age they are turned on by as well. So the
|seemingly conflict of interest still applies. Like I could be a good
|gynecologist, im certain. Im probably capable of all the learning and
|applications of learning the average gynecologist are. But i could
|*never* do it because i could not pretend to not be doing a job where
|i handle pussy like i dont love pussy. Im jut not thay much of a lying
|shiteater. I think it’s bare minimum decency that would keep me from
|even considering doing that, even if i was really keen on it for
|innocent reasons. So that makes me and many other men think “well if
|im being decent by not being a gynecologist, does that mean the men
|who are gynecologists are mostly *less decent*?” I dont think ill
|ever trust a male gynecologist fully, not that i have to. Itd be like

|u/cali86 - 1 month
|
|I guess, I've read some horror stories on Reddit. A couple of
|weeks ago a girl posted that her male gynecologist took a picture
|of her vagina with his phone to "show her a problematic spot".
|So... Yeah... Crazy!
|u/Athien - 1 month
|
|Can’t speak for that doctor but it’s not uncommon for doctors to
|take picture to put into medical records. That being said, they
|are supposed to let you know they are doing it, get consent, and
|tell you that they are using a “hospital/office” phone and not a
|personal phone. I worked at a children’s hospital and the
|physicians there often took pictures (even of sensitive areas)
|to put into medical records to track healing for example or for
|future providers to have a reference. Again, there was always an
|explanation to the parents beforehand, consent by the
|parents/patients and confirmation that they are using a work
|phone and not a personal phone. So not trying to invalidate
|people’s bad experiences, they definitely do happen and it’s
|terrible, but most physicians are extremely professional about
|it and are doing it for legitimate medical reason.
|u/cali86 - 1 month
|
|Yeah that's fair. In the post the girl said it was way too
|casual and she felt very uncomfortable, but I wasn't there so
|I don't know.
|u/Fred_Stuff44325 - 1 month
|
|It sounds very possible that it was legitimate. I'm just
|imagining a young doctor that got out of med school where
|you're casually talking with other doctors and more focused
|on getting the correct diagnosis than worrying about bedside
|manners. Regardless, it's why patient reporting is
|important - if he's reported once and genuinely made a
|mistake, he'll be embarrassed and change, if it was
|maliciousness then it could help with a motion to remove
|their license.
|u/gvk99199 - 1 month
|
|Fwiw, I find vag the most sexually arousing view of a woman, right
|up there with boobs. But I don’t think I’d find being a doctor at
|all arousing. It’s not like they are striking a sexy pose, or
|talking in a sexy way. You’d almost have to have an “examination
|room” fetish to get anything from it
|u/mkaszycki81 - 1 month
|
|One obgyn confessed that in his first years in practice, he needed
|to tie his dick to his thigh or would have to walk around with a
|hard on all day.
|u/RyanSrGold - 1 month
|
|It's possible for any and every field, and with genders reversed as
|well. There's no harm in being vigilant. (Depends on what the
|beautiful woman prefers/is comfortable with.) But the number of doc
|to number to people in society is so low. There was a ratio
|comparison chart per country somewhere. For example, in India, it
|was something like 7 doctors to 10,000 people. The number of
|specialized doctors would be even lower i.e. obgyn. The pool of male
|Docs from this would be even lower, 1 in 7 (or 10), depending on
|region. Sure, men are visual creatures and value physical
|attractiveness in potential partners. While women tend towards the
|"ability to provide" (💰). This was interesting from a doc, "...But
|if a woman is attractive, I do have to fight that part of my brain.
|I’d be lying if I said otherwise. I’ve had patients legitimately hit
|on me — one immediately after her abortion, and another right after
|a pelvic exam." [Source](https://www.thecut.com/2014/09/10-men-
|explain-why-they-became-gynecologists.html) The likelihood that
|you'd come across a male obgyn that has the similar physical
|attractiveness standards, and would act on it unethically (with
|potential repercussions), I think presents as a rare case.

|Yeah, no. My wife and her friends struggle to find female gynecologist
|because so many positions are filled up by men. It doesn't matter how
|professional they can be, the bottom line is a lot of woman are
|uncomfortable with a man doing it. A gynecologist position filled by a
|man is a position that could've been a woman.
|u/lutinopat - 1 month
|
|Really? https://www.npr.org/sections/health-
|shots/2018/04/12/596396698/male-ob-gyns-are-rare-but-is-that-a-
|problem In 2018 "Nationally, 82 percent of doctors matching into
|OB-GYN residency programs are women." Among practicing OB-GYNs in
|the U.S., a little fewer than half are men, according to the
|American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. But ACOG
|predicts that 10 years from now, two-thirds of the doctors in that
|specialty will be female.
|u/Akai_Anemone - 1 month
|
|Okay..? What is your point? Doesn't mean that my wife and friends
|haven't had a hard time avoiding male ob-gyns in our area.
|u/lutinopat - 1 month
|
|My point is your anecdote seems to be implying there is some
|national shortage of female OBGYNs, ("so many positions are
|filled up by men"), but real data doesn't support that claim.
|Maybe your area is an outlier. And what does this even mean? :
|"A gynecologist position filled by a man is a position that
|could've been a woman."
|u/Akai_Anemone - 1 month
|
|No, i was not meaning to imply they are an overwhelming
|majority. But little fewer than half is a lot. Especially for
|something so sex/gender oriented. Yes, my experience with whom
|i talk to is anecdotal, but when my mother, my sister, my
|wife, my friends all share frustration with trying to book
|around male ob-gyns. That is a problem.
|u/mwai1 - 1 month
|
|Do you also have the same opinion about female doctors being
|urologists or homosexual male doctors being colorectal surgeons? Or
|a male breast surgeons? The truth is, being an obstetrician &
|gynaecologist is a tiring, high stress, high risk of litigation
|position. It's not for everyone. In my part of the world, there
|aren't enough female doctors who want to specialise in this field to
|eliminate male doctors entirely. In fact, many female doctors don't
|want to be in this discipline because of the long and unpredictable
|hours. Besides, in an emergency, you wouldn't want to be surrounded
|by 5 male doctors who have zero experience in examining a woman's
|parts.. You are definitely entitled to your opinion and, if you
|can afford it, to choose a female obgyn as a paying patient. But I
|disagree with your statement that every male gynae is filling a
|position that should rightfully be a woman's position.
|u/Akai_Anemone - 1 month
|
|Just sharing the frustration i've heard from the women around me
|bro. I personally don't care who treats me. But I do take beef
|with the part where you are suggesting that woman are dissuaded by
|the difficulty as if to imply men are better suited for it?
|u/mwai1 - 1 month
|
|Sorry if I worded it incorrectly. I am not suggesting that women
|are dissuaded and men are better suited. Many women are more
|capable than men are. But to only take in women as obgyns means
|you are missing out on many good male doctors. If you enforce a
|rule that only females can work in obgyn, you won't have enough
|obgyns doctors, and you will have male doctors who do not know
|how to respond in a obgyn emergency. The same goes for urology,
|for example. If you enforce a 'male urology' only rule, there
|won't be enough urologists, and you will have female doctors who
|would be clueless on what to do in a urologic emergency. In my
|country, there is still some (unfortunate) societal expectations
|that women are supposed to be responsible for the maintaining of
|the home and caring of the children, and a field like obgyn
|which can have unpredictable hours and also long hours do not
|appeal to women who want to fulfil this societal expectation.
|Not all women doctors think like that, but there are a
|substantial who do.

|Your definition of "normal" is horrible and serves no purpose other

|considered a "dick move". Maybe just be nice to your neighbors

|He's thinks it's *illegal* for gynecologists to say "pussy", as in he

|What the hell does this have to do with delusional trannies? He said

|You seem very angry at someone. I don't really know him well or
|details of his other jokes. Guess I'm not as obsessed about
|these things as you. I just saw this clip and didn't find it
|funny, except the part where he said he thought saying it wrong
|was illegal.

|Just think about how many good looking women you encounter on a day to

|Yeah, newsflash, they don’t see only 9’s or 10’s that have perfect

|I was told they have to smell the instruments they insert to smell for
|infections. I was told this by a nurse.
|u/veerKg_CSS_Geologist - 1 month
|
|You don't have to smell the instruments, but if there is an "off"
|scent from a body part it's usually a sign of an infection. That's how
|many people go to the doctor/nurse - they smell something wrong or
|have a concern about an odor. It's not just your private bits either.

|Patient:doctor I think there is something wrong with me Docter:well
|what seems to be the issue Patient:well no matter what I do down
|*motions towards the mid section of her body* it smells like sardines
|for some reason Doctor:ok we'll do a inspection please follow me to the
|inspection room (!!!WARNING THIS IS A JOKE IF YOU TAKE OFFENSE TO THIS
|I AM VERY SORRY I TRUELY AM ANYWAYS YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!) Patient:*on
|the inspection table* ok lets just get this over with (!!!AGAIN THIS IS
|A JOKE!!!) Doctor:*goes to well you know* you said that it stinks
|Patient:yes Doctor: * pulls out finger then sniffs it* Patient:EXCUSE
|ME WHAT THE FUCK (!!!!!THIS IS A JOKE I REPEAT THIS IS A JOKE!!!!!)
|u/MrJasonGallant - 1 month
|
|I don't think this is very funny... I mean, for once it's not all that
|offensive, nothing is really happening and it's very badly
|written/told. You need to work on that. I mean I guess there was a
|premise so that's good but the whole thing falls apart really rapidly.
|Also, if you're going to try telling an offensive joke, do not cool
|off the tone of your joke with some "This is a joke don't be offended
|now". It ruins the purpose. Just say it at the beginning or the end
|that you will or have been joking. Also, make sure that the context
|is clear. I will reiterate what I understood: Woman comes to doctor
|about smelly vagina Doctor says "ok let's take a look follow me" Woman
|is on the table Woman says "let's get it over with" Doctor has is
|finger in Doctor says "you said that it stinks" Doctor removes finger
|Doctor smells finger Woman says "excuse me WTF" It's too simple,
|there is no transition, it's hard to follow. When the woman says:
|"let's get it over with" why? Was she in a hurry? Was she
|uncomfortable? Was she just rude in general? You could have taken the
|time it took for them to go to the examination room (even though she
|was already in the doctor's office so most likely, for a first checkup
|like that one, all she would have to do is sitting down) to make her
|say something. Did the vagina actually stink? First, the doctor would
|look and would already smell it if it was an especially bad odor. An
|inner monologue of the doctor saying: "yup that smells". Would at
|least set the tone. The use of the italic to portray actions is awful
|as well. Just put the actions in between dialogues, on another line,
|use bold letters maybe or use the * symbole. Jason *goes to another
|room* where did I put my lighter? Edit: I see now, the symbol makes
|text in italics. That's what's up huh? Well disregard that, but find
|another way. (Before edit: Here it's clear between what I'm doing and
|when I'm talking. It's clear and isn't confusing.) Or you use proper
|punctuation. Jason goes to another room and says: "Where is my
|lighter?" Once he removes his finger why does he smell it? Does he
|like the smell like a pervert? Was he just looking to see if it
|smelled? It's not explained. If he's a pervert (which I think this is
|what you were going for) for it to make it comedic, he should lay a
|smile or something so that the reaction of the lady can now be
|justified. Even then it wouldn't be a great joke but that would be a
|start. So, add more context, but do not make it drag out. Nobody wants
|a 15 minute joke either. Just fill the holes. Make sure that your
|vision can be seen. When people read you or talk to you, they cannot
|tell what you are thinking so you must image it for them. And do not
|forget, if the joke is going for shock value, do not apologize and go
|all the way. There'll be time for apologies later. Anyway I hope you
|read this, it took me some time to make it and I'm sure you can make
|it useful.
