|Only marry foster care non-adoptees 🤷🏽‍♀️
|u/reheateddiarrhea - 1 month
|
|Haha, that's me and I'll tell you right now that we are an absolute
|mess lol. You do not want to tango with the trauma of being an
|unloved, unwanted child who almost certainly ended up in foster care
|and group homes due to physical, psychological, and sexual abuse.
|u/TackyBrad - 1 month
|
|Anyone else feel like this started off as "Haha, ..." and then
|just never really felt like a "Haha"?
|u/reheateddiarrhea - 1 month
|
|It started that way for me too but quickly transformed into a
|trauma dump. I'm okay btw. I'm in therapy and against all odds
|married with two kids and self employed as a general contractor,
|not bad for the hand I was dealt.
|u/skothu - 1 month
|
|Well, it did allow you to come up with the best Reddit username at
|least. Childhood trauma only gave me the ability to sidestep
|emotional conversations with poorly timed/executed jokes. Good
|news is, you are wanted now. That doesn’t erase or replace the
|pain, but is its own thing and important.
|u/reheateddiarrhea - 1 month
|
|Thank you! This means a lot to me, genuinely. Being able to
|sidestep emotional conversations with comedy is not always
|detrimental. In fact, it can be almost like a super power in
|times of severe stress.  I am the person that people go to
|when they are having a genuine crisis. I sat with a friend on
|suicide watch in the ER. I had them literally in tears laughing.
|Funeral? Yup, I somehow got the entire family cracking up with
|an open casket just a few feet away. Lose your wife, kids,
|house, and job due to a mix of infidelity and drug use? I will
|show up and say completely deadpanned, "well, at least you still
|have your dignity and a full head of hair." As you sit in a
|hotel in just your underwear, almost completely bald, with snot
|hanging from your nose eating microwaved ramen. Boom, now you
|come completely unglued and are laughing so intensely at the
|absurdity of your current situation that you sound psychotic.
|Cheers to you fellow survivor. We're doing our best to break the
|cycle. I wish you all the best.

|I’m continuously surprised that the sheer amount of material he comes up
|with. Other people will come up with a simple joke and milk it for years
|and stories are just flowing out of Josh like a faucet.
|u/ADShree - 1 month
|
|Yeah, every new upload is a different set pretty much. I've been
|subbed to plenty of standup comedians who upload the same set
|different audience. Or they only upload crowd work cause the don't
|have to reveal their actual set. Josh has new material that isn't
|crowd work every upload. Dude is just naturally funny without having
|to try, it seems. "I'm just up here complaining" is one of the best
|ways to think about his uploads. He's just up there talking about
|whatever interested him recently and he somehow finds a way to make
|everything funny yet also tells stories in a way that keeps you
|engaged. Dude is a talent.
|u/badgerj - 1 month
|
|Neat. Never heard of the guy. Seems super free-flow talented like
|you say. He didn’t have me busting a gut, but he was funny. And
|everything he said rang true! Timing and delivery - on point! -
|u/HonkedOffJohn - 1 month
|
|The story he told about a guy who sat next to him on a plane and
|brought a whole rotisserie chicken is so absurd but the way he tells
|it I definitely believe it true.
|u/Dragon_Small_Z - 1 month

|For real. We basically get a new half hour special every week and he

|u/peonyseahorse - 1 month
|
|I always advise my single friends that if they are at the point of
|considering marriage to think carefully about their in laws. Like it or
|not, they will come with the potential spouse. I naively thought that my
|fmil would just be some minor noise. No, we celebrated our 25th wedding
|anniversary recently, no thanks to her. She was out to wreck our
|relationship from the very beginning, I refuse to talk to or to see her.
|That is what happens when you in laws are a nightmare and a source of
|stress.
|u/Complete_Hovercraft4 - 1 month
|
|But do you regret your marriage? If not, considering them means
|nothing
|u/peonyseahorse - 1 month
|
|Had I know how terrible his mother would be, things might have been
|different. I tried to be the bigger person for much too long, and
|all she did was act worse, to the point that I had no choice but to
|go low/no contact with her. Meanwhile, she paints me as the bad guy
|and puts her sons (she does the same to my sil) in a bad situation.
|In order for them to be good sons to her, she expects them to be
|terrible husbands to my sil and me. Basically, she set them up for a
|lose - lose situation and here's the worst part... She paints
|herself as some sort of victim, even though she is a bully and has
|the emotional maturity of a 13 yr old drama queen.. I don't expect
|you to understand if you've never dealt with such a toxic person
|before.
|u/Complete_Hovercraft4 - 1 month
|
|Lol everyone has dealt with a toxic person, your not that special.
|My point is, if you’d still have married your significant other
|than nothing would be different regardless. If that’s not the
|case, I feel sympathy for your marriage.
|u/peonyseahorse - 1 month
|
|No, you don't understand. If you marry someone who is related to
|a family member who is toxic. That is very different from just a
|random toxic person. Like I said, I don't expect you to
|understand.

|I'm a white dude, and quite a few years ago I briefly was dating a black
|girl. One night i'm at her house, and she told me i needed to leave
|because her cousin was coming over and he was racist. I quickly realized
|i didn't want to deal with that and we stopped not much longer after
|that.
|u/RadRhubarb00 - 1 month

|
|Me too, shit wife’s coming gotta go.
|u/Desperate_Plan_3927 - 1 month
|
|Same I relate to this so much. Basically my biggest headache is my in
|laws in particular my mil who acts like a 6 year old with ADHD,
|depression and severe anxiety. I understand she had a very traumatic
|childhood which I can’t even imagine but at some point you have to
|choose to want to get better especially when all your kids and their
|spouse are giving your guidance in what to do for your own betterment.
|u/Fred_Fredburger_ - 1 month
|
|Some cultures are hell bent on the importance of choosing a good family
|when you marry, and you're all like, fuck that noise. I like who I like,
|nothing else matters. I didn't fall in love with "the family". Then you
|meet the shit show that you're obligated to engage with, and then
|slowly, the realization sets in.. and then you realise the Apple doesn't
|fa.. Then you turn to your parents n repent for your sins.

|Liver and Onions. "Some people LIKE liver and onions... I'm NOT one
|of those people! See my wife, loves them, she thinks they are great,
|we don't have them for dinner because "I" dont like them, like at all,
|so to me her family is liver and onions and I just want my chicken

|He’s not wrong. I met a girl that was well spoken, put together, and we
|seemed to click. When I picked her up for our first date, I got stuck on
|the mud road her family’s dilapidated single wide was on and met the
|cast from Deliverance. I should have run but didn’t. They were
|ultimately nice enough people and over the next 10 years, I helped them
|a lot and eventually got them into a decent home. Even killed off
|numerous wildly out of control roach problems for them. She eventually
|divorced me because she “felt guilty being married to me and having a
|better life than her family”.

|Josh Johnston is current holder of the record in my head to shortest

|Feel a bit like this with my wife's family. Very nice, inviting people,

|Who seriously considers marriage without in-laws? No one should be
