TIL that on the day he was assassinated at least nine of Kennedy’s
Secret Service agents were recovering from an all night bender that

|Not true There are several attempts on a presidents life and
|honestly it seems the secret service has been lucky recently.
|Under Obama Someone ran into the White House with a knife and
|got in deep before he was subdued. Someone shot several bullets
|into the White House and the secret service didn’t even know about
|it until several days later. Someone almost killed Gerald ford
|but the gun was jammed or not properly loaded. There are
|actually many many attempts we don’t even hear about I imagine not
|just on the president but other political figures and their
|families.
|u/mdherc - 1 month
|
|*"Someone almost killed Gerald ford but the gun was jammed or
|not properly loaded."* She didn't chamber a round before
|firing. Less than 3 weeks later another woman almost killed
|Gerald Ford but missed her shot by about 5 feet. The Secret
|Service, literally fresh off an assassination attempt failed to
|stop another one and it's just luck that Ford wasn't killed.
|Those are the only two women who have ever attempted to
|assassinate a president, and they both tried to kill Gerald Ford
|in the same month for entirely separate reasons.

|I've been on rants for decades that the SS needs to have disciplined,

|worked under top secret clearances where, depending on job and

|in our lives and even watched closely as we reported for work.
|Alchohol on breath would be loss of job. Even acting hungover is a

|Gun violence isn't news anymore. Multiple kids get killed and
|it's news for a few weeks. Even Uvalde was more about the cops
|fucking up than kids dying. We have been have been conditioned
|to "let it go" because most of us just accept it as a part of
|life. Shooter was killed and one other person was killed. We
|don't do news stories for the injured or displaced,
|occasionally briefly for a dead victim but even then as a
|society we don't dwell on it.

|This is the downside for Republicans of downplaying every

|every day in America. This was just another shooting that took
|some lives. But that doesn't mean other 'good' Americans
|shouldn't be able to exercise their 2nd amendment rights etc It
|just so happened that one of the surviving casualties was former
|President Trump. But shootings are so routine and reported about
|in such a detached manner as if its a weather report that it can
|be no surprise that this happened and it almost didn't matter to
|most people. If a classroom of kids barely moves the needle then
|what chance does a gun attack that doesn't even kill a

|They had to. If Biden didn't decide to drop out, it would have
|been over for the Democrats as they would have been going up
|against what many right-leaning voters would have considered a
|"martyr" or some sort of hero. Trump would have been seen as
|someone who would give their live for the presidency, and that
|whole thing going against Biden? Yeah, he probably would have
|lost in the election, but him dropping out was the best decision
|he could have made for his party because it took all the steam
|right out of that event and moved it all onto Kamala and Tim's
|run. Biden dropping out was not only a decision made to show
|that he understands that he can't really do this anymore, but
|also that it would get ahead of the assassination attempt.
|u/Gogs85 - 1 month
|
|I think it’s a combination of the trump not evoking much empathy
|in people and the fact that the news cycle around Trump was
|already super fast due to the constant stream of horrible stuff
|that he does every week.
|u/mXonKz - 1 month
|
|i think it’s cause it’s a confusing motive that’s hard for
|republicans to use to motivate voters. if the shooter was a
|registered democrat, the story goes “democrats are the party of
|violence, vote for us” or something like that, but cause he was
|a republican the main argument now seems to be whether he was
|actually a republican or not, and that argument really isn’t
|that interesting to discuss cause no one can win and it borders
|on conspiracies and doesn’t help republicans in any way. the
|fact trump ended up being completely fine and everything else
|that happened afterwards took the steam out of the story, but if
|republicans had an angle to push, they absolutely would, but
|there’s just no real good one that makes them look good and
|democrats look bad. the best is “he took a bullet for this
|country” but that hasn’t done much to convince people not
|already on his side
|u/BeautifulStrong9938 - 1 month

|That’s how the news is curated now and why I refuse to watch or
|read anything put out by any media outlet. We have short
|attention spans, once something is no longer interesting to us
|then we move on and find something else that stimulates us. The
|news media knows this, which is why 24 hour news has become
|sensationalist journalism (and I use that term journalism
|lightly) where it keeps people engaged in one thing for a week
|or so and then immediately changes to something completely
|different. It’s like distracting a cat with a laser.

|I feel it already dropped out of the news cycle quite a bit
|even before Biden dropped out. Everything about Trump is just
|crazy. He's said crazy thing after crazy thing for so many
|years now. Back in 2018 or so I was constantly dumbstruck,
|reading what comes out of his own mouth from his Twitter. Now
|we are all used to it. There's pretty much nothing he can say
|to sink lower or get any crazier. An assassination attempt?
|It's just another crazy Trump thing. It's once you take a step
|back and think about the ramifications if he was assassinated
|that it is truly crazy to ponder. So glad the kid didn't kill
|him. Would have turned him into a martyr. Now at least this
|way he can be "killed" politically a final time if he loses,
|there's no way Republicans can sit around with him for another
|4 years, he'd probably be dead. His brain is melting already.
|I think if he loses we will see them drop him completely and
|there's a chance, albeit very very small, that he actually

|
|I actually LOL'd at this :D that's not quite it, it's a bit more
|believable actually haha! Here's the story but first the source:
|The source of this story is a guy named Danny Sheehan. He's a
|pretty successful lawyer and, while not without controversy, he's
|been involved in some pretty major things in the past few decades
|of American politics, like the Pentagon Papers, the Watergate
|case, the Greensboro Massacre, and more recently things like the
|Dakota Access Pipeline issue. He's a public interest lawyer, and
|is well connected in Washington - in other words, he's a
|reasonably credible guy from what I can tell. And he's said some
|WILD shit about UFOs in general, but in particular on one podcast
|he told a story about how UFOs and JFK were connected. Some will
|dispute Danny's connection to these things and his take on UFOs of
|course, so take that as you will. So, the story as he tells it
|is this: Nixon, when he was VP, was the Chairperson of some kind
|of committee that dealt with national security and intel matters,
|and that committee set up "Kill Teams" to target prominent
|communitsts like Guevara and Castro. Danny apparently took the
|disposition of a member of one of these kill teams, and he was
|apparently the dude who killed Che Guevara, as evidenced by the
|fact that he took Che's wristwatch *and fucking wore it daily
|including in his interview with Sheehan.* So this guy starts
|saying how the kill teams were set up and put under the control of
|the CIA. They never got Castro, but they did get Che (and his
|watch). Fast forward to JFK, and apparently JFK sends a letter to
|the CIA saying "Hey, you guys better cooperate with the Russians
|on this UFO thing." (https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna42704241)
|The CIA did not like that, so they dispatched one of these kill
|teams to take out Kennedy, which connects to that whole "Oswald
|was a patsy, there was more than one shooter, grassy knoll, magic
|bullet" stuff that we are already so familiar with when it comes
|to JFK. This is then connected to Watergate because Nixon knew
|he was responsible for setting up the kill teams, and even though
|he had nothing to do with them being used against Kennedy years
|later, he knew that not a single person on earth would believe
|that if the origin of these kill teams was traced back to him,
|hence his deep fear about the watergate tapes going out and the
|scandal that ensued. I can't remember the podcast where he talks
|about this stuff - the Danny Jones one is fascinating with Sheehan
|but I can't recall if JFK and the Kill Teams came up in that
|podcast or in a different one. 2024 man. Wild time.

|I was about to mention this! I didn’t know about the mechanic aspect,

|huge, fatal mistake. I’m starting to believe this theory more than
|other conspiracy’s I’ve heard about ( second shooter on the grassy

|It's also more believable than most of the other conspiracies
|because it a) wouldn't take much to pull off and b) has a clear
|motive. Instead of a vast network of the CIA and the Mob, this was
|just a few people dealing with Kennedy's body and realising what
|happened. Knowing that pointing the finger at Bob from the USSS
|would tarnish his life and probably get him killed they just say
|"Yeah, the guy in the book depository got him". Even if Oswald

|shot from the grassy knoll? *Not a single person* reported hearing
|shots from two different locations. Everyone who reported hearing the
|shots said they all came from the same place; they just disagreed on
|*which* place. So there is no evidence whatsoever to support the idea
|that any shots came from a different place than the rest.
|u/KiwiThunda - 1 month
|
|Multiple people also smelled gunpowder down at street level, which
|you absolutely would not smell from that far away. Oswalt's first
|shot missed, second shot hit Kennedy's neck/spine, and 3rd shot came
|from USSS car directly behind to Kennedy's head by accident. I
|firmly believe a USSS fucked up big-time and the only coverup is
|USSS not wanting to be embarrassed. It would also give credence to
|Oswalt's protest he was a "patsy" ... To him he shot twice, then
|suddenly sees Kennedy's head explode when he didn't shoot.
|u/Dalmanza4 - 1 month

|u/tifumostdays - 1 month

|And it's one of the stupidest fantasies on the whole topic. You have

|The theory that Marcus Parks puts forward at the end of the Last Podcast
|On The Left JFK series makes a lot of sense with the evidence we are

|Oswald shot him, but that the fatal head shot was actually the result of
|an accidental misfire by one of the secret service agents in their sub-
|optimal state. One of the reasons that this seems likely is that if I
|had to say which was more likely, a grand complex conspiracy or an on
|the job goof-em-up, I’m going goof every time. Also the apparent “cover
|up” would make sense because this sort of sloppy performance would make

|There's a documentary, i can't remember the name, and a modern
|forensic investigator looks at the case. The agents were drunk the
|night before, except the driver. So that day the had the guy that
|usually drives hold the AR15 in the car behind the President. Oswald
|shot, the men stood up in the backseat of the car following, the cars
|increase speed, the agents standing up fall backwards, dueing this
|fall the agent holding the AR15 accidentally fires it and it hits JFK
|in the head. There is a clear photo of him holding the AR15 in the
|rear car, the bullet trajectory matches up, and this explains a lot of
|the second shooter stpries. Biggest thing, Oswald's bullet went
|through two people and a seat and was still recovered, the AR15 bullet
|fragmented in his head. Oswald could not have fired both of those type
|of rounds from his rifle
|u/Gizogin - 1 month
|
|The trajectory does *not* line up. The bullet that killed JFK was
|angled *down*. And about the "second shooter" conspiracy theories,
|that's based on conflicting reports of where people heard the shots
|coming from. Some people reported hearing shots from the direction
|of the book depository, some reported hearing them from the
|direction of the grassy knoll. *Not one person* reported hearing
|shots come from *multiple* directions. Every single person who
|reported hearing the shots said they came from the same place; they

|Oswald doesn't seem too randomly motivated to me. It also seems highly
|likely that he tried to shoot American general Edwin Walker who was

|Malcom X was killed by the nation of Islam RFK was killed by a pro
|palestine terrorist MLK was killed by a white supremacist and JFK
|was killed by a dude that used to live in the soviet union so yeah
|all of then had reason to kill their targets unless the CIA had the

|The FBI did not play any role in carrying out the murders of malcolm X
|and MLK, but they allowed it to happen. In MLK’s case, the FBI had
|warned him about threats to his life up until they had a minor
|disagreement with MLK’s choice of words (i think it was when MLK
|publicly spoke bad about the FBI’s failure to catch KKK terrorists).
|After MLK offended the FBI, they stopped warning him of potential
|assassins. In Malcom’s case, he was killed by his own people, but the
|police knew he was going to be assassinated and did nothing to stop
|it. They had inside agents in the Nation of Islam and knew about the
|assassination plots, but they intentionally stoked the tensions of the
|inner power struggles of the nation of islam. Their goal was to play
|the black muslims against each other, and it worked. Malcolm X was
|seen as a dangerous threat to national security rather than as a civil
|rights leader, and law enforcement treated him accordingly. All this
|is to say that there is no grand conspiracy here. The government/state
|agencies were perhaps maliciously negligent, but they did not organize
|the assassinations.

|There’s a non-trivial theory that while LHO did hit JFK with the first
