|I used to ask questions like that a lot People don't like them
|I discovered The real answer, it turns out, is that there is no
|way to know, but even for someone who is allergic, the toxin is
|slow acting enough for most people to be able to seek help in
|time The biggest theoretical allergic risk is more likely to be
|from adder antivenin which is likely to be from horse blood
|serum Approximately eight times as many people in the UK are
|allergic to horses than are found to be allergic to adder bites

|Mosquitoes breed at such a fast rate, one needs to adjust DEET
|percentages throughout a single season to combat wave after wave. More
|hurricane activity nowadays gives ample time for these life cycles to
|breed at a more exponential pace. Millions of iterations now becomes a
|billion. They will soon be numerous in Antarctica and Iceland as long
|as there are humans there too. SC Johnson will have to tweak their
|DEET cocktail to not be affected by freezing temps. Maybe sell regular
|OFF! with a pocket warmer.

|Why are there mosquitos in Greenland but not in Iceland?
|u/Big_Brain219 - 1 month
|
|Mosquitoes are present in Greenland but not in Iceland due to
|differences in climate and weather patterns. Greenland has more stable
|and continuous winters, allowing mosquito pupae to hibernate under ice
|and hatch in spring when the ice melts. In contrast, Iceland
|experiences frequent freeze-thaw cycles, with rapid temperature
|changes that disrupt the mosquito lifecycle. This variability prevents
|mosquitoes from completing their lifecycle, as they may hatch
|prematurely and die when temperatures drop again. Or they signed a
|treaty.
