PSION Series 3a battery life

Today I had to replace AA batteries in my Psion 3a (GP, rechargeable,  2700
mAh). I put them into the machine last year (I don't remember precise date,
maybe it was December). 

The machine is mostly quietly sitting on my desk - the total time of active use
might be under 10 hours during this year. But still, even the battery life in
sleep is impressive! On my Palm  III boxes I had to replace the battery at
least once in a month (twice per month on that one which is actively used).

I have to check if the batteries in my Elektronika MK-90 are still OK)... ;-)

Unfortunately, there is no modern PDA/phone with at least similar battery life.
