Did I mention that I'm really enjoying interviewing? I mean,
there should be more of them, sure, but the encounters I'm
having are all very positive. I'm not talking about the
technical aspects, though -- though those are fine too, of
course; I'm talking about finding deep connections with
people in the short span of a telephone call. 

Part of that is undoubtedly just having lived enough years
to have accumulated a lot of experience and a quite a few
stories. Then there's the willingness to share them. But if
you think it through, you know: it's not enough.

For those moments to open up takes a lot of luck, of course;
but it also takes some sensitivity to recognize that
something is happening; otherwise, we're just talking over
each other. 

At some point in the conversation, it's no longer about the
interview -- it's about the connection. And if those
connections help someone -- or even help land a job -- all
the better. :-)
