I never do this, but I did. Social media started buzzing
about Betty White.  Normally she's trending for not being
dead; this time was different. To double-check, I did a
thing: I visited Google News.

A 26-year-old truck driver. Brakes failed. He missed a
runaway truck ramp that could have prevented the crash.
Dozens injured, four dead. 27 charges, 110 years -- a number
related to mandatory minimum sentencing guidelines. Public
outcry. "Kim Karsashian West, who had advocated for his
sentence to be commuted, celebrated the news of [his]
commutation on Twitter." From the Governor, "You will
struggle with this burden of this even for the  rest of your
life, but never forget that because of this event, countless
others will struggle with the loss of their loved ones or
injuries as well. And you will serve your just sentence."
