I have started using Gopher as I am unhappy with the modern web. |
|
|
|
I've always been quite anti-web commercialization, |
|
|
|
I feel it detracts from it's orignal meaning and use. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Make no doubt, W3 is an excellent protocol, |
|
|
|
it's the content, use, and the sheer amount of ads that ruin it. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
On the flip side, I believe it is unfair to compare the two. |
|
|
|
While W3 is clearly superior technically, |
|
|
|
with it's multimedia capabilities. |
|
|
|
Gopher is much better, not to mention more painless, |
|
|
|
for information gathering and file downloads. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
And maybe nostalgia... |
|
|
|
|
|
